Wizard's First Rule

Title: Wizard's First Rule
Author: Terry Goodkind
ISBN: 0-812-54805-1

This is a book about a man named Richard Cypher, who is a regular woodsman who loves to spend time in the woods and look at trails. He was living his ordinary life when everything in the town goes weird. First, he was wandering around in the woods when he sees a woman, named Kahlan. It had been unusual to him because he had never seen people taking the path that she was on. Behind her, he saw few assassins stocking her, hiding behind trees. He ran down as fast as he could to alert her. When he tells her, they tried to run away when the assassins come out from nowhere and attacks them. Richard helps her out and fights them off. While they were fighting, he saw something weird. Everything became quiet, and a lightning striked, but with no sound. It hit the biggest assassin and the assassin started to fight for her. Then, his best friend Zedd, is actually a wizard. He finds out there are words between the worlds boundaries. Zedd makes him a Seeker that he is unsure of. He finds out that his father had stolen an important book which had steps to have immortal life. His father had Richard memorize all the words day and night. An evil king, tries to control Richard, to make him tell him the steps to immortal life. Richard is afterall, a special wizard who is the only one to save the world.

This book is an adventure book and I think that it was very good. The author goes very detailed in the story. This book is the first book of the series. There are 8 books in this collection. The author makes the book fun and whenever I read a paragraph, I always wondered what would happen next. I also liked this book because it is about my level, it wasn't too hard and it wasn't too easy. There were some words that I didn't know but I also learned a lot of new words. What I really liked about this book was that it had a twist that I was surprised of. The Wizard's First Rule was that "people are stupid". It meant that people don't think before their actions because they are too desperate to get what they want. The book is very long and if you are going to read it, I don't want to ruin the twist in the book.
