Forrest Gump
Title: Forrest Gump
Author: Winston Groom
ISBN: 0-7434-5325-5
The main character of this book is Forrest Gump. Though his IQ is near 70, he lived a pretty interesting life. He went to a public school in U.S. just like all the others do, but his friends teased him and made fun of him because he was an idiot. Everybody laughed at him except Jenny Curren. She was Forrest’s best friend. During the high school year, Forrest Gump made into the All State Football team. He also went to a University with IQ of 70. That is pretty amazing.
I personally think the best part of this book is when his company Doyle was shot and Forrest is trying to save him during the Vietnam War. He just ran in full speed with Doyle on his back, and started to bellow and howl loudly. Then all of sudden he was in the middle of his companies. Then everybody started to slap him on the back as if he made a touchdown. He realized that he had frightened off the Vietnamese, and they retreated. Ha ha, how funny is that?
He was the best ping-pong player in the army, and he started some companies called “Gump’s Shellfish Company,” “Sue’s Stuffed Crabs, Inc.,” “Mama’s Crawfish Etouffee, Ltd.” They were really successful and he earned five million dollar a year.
Another thing I liked about this book is that Forrest Gump was like a genius of the world, because he won the game against the chess champion, and he was even involved in the space program by NASA. I think this book is telling us to never give up and try new things. If he was a real person, he should have been noted as one of the greatest heroes.
