Sammy Keyes And The Hotel Thief

Title: Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief
ISBN: 0-439-06505-4
Author: Wendelin Van Draanen

This book starts out by Sammy, a seventh grader, looking through a pair of binoculars when her grandma strictly forbids her. She sees a thief stealing a wallet from the hotel room across the street, and the thief sees her spying on him. She could of called the police, but she thought no one would believe her so began to solve the case herself with the help of her best friend, Melissa.
They both search for clues and sneak into the Heavenly Hotel, the scene of the crime even though they were forbidden to do so. Does Sammy catch the thief? or does she lets him go by not solving the case? Find out by reading this novel!

I think this book was very interesting how it began and it made me have the same sympathy for Sammy because in the novel she comes out as a seventh grader like me! My opinion is that it is a good book for all junior readers to read.

This book goes under Mystery because:
* The main character tries to solve a mystery
* Searches for clues while solving the mystery
* Involves a crime

Left Behind

http://www.standrews.org.hk/images/bookstore/left%20behind.jpg
Left Behind by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins
ISBN: 0-8423-2912-9

This book is about the rapture. It is about what it would be like when people suddenly dissapear from earth. The main characters, Rayford Steele (a pilot) and Buck Williams (a magazine writer) both strive to find out what happened to the people who dissapeared, leaving their clothes and accessories behind. Rayford believes that the rapture had happened, and tries to convince his daughter, because Rayford believed that there was a second chance into going to heavan. While Buck was searching for the truth of what had happened, he finds out that someone was trying to murdur him. Rayford searches for his second chance into heavan, while Buck searches for the truth.

Left Behind is a realistic fiction book because it is possible that the story can happen, but really hasn't. Yes, Left Behind is based on the Bible, but the Bible never gives specific stories about people or characters and happenings that are in Left Behind. 3 specific examples that prove Left Behind is a realistic fiction are (1) in the plane where Rayford and Buck were flying in, people start to dissapear, (2) Alan Tompkins is murdured [there is no real 'Alan Tompkins' that has been murdured in real life] and (3) because the name of the president [of the United States] was Gerald Fitzhugh.

I think that Left Behind is a very interesting, fun, and touching book. Left Behind is a touching book because it shows how much Rayford loves his daughter. It is also very interesting because the authors wrote the book in a very modernized fashion, such as bombings, car crashes, and chaos. I also liked it because I can imagine the whole story in my head. Left Behind is the first book of the Left Behind Series. Because I enjoyed the first book, I would like to read the second book.

My Opinion On The Book:The book was spectacularly wonderful. I really loved this book because of the epic tale mixed in with so many twists. If the story was retold without all the technology, it would be destroyed. This book is on my number one of my top 50 list. I reccomend this book to everyone! This story should be told to everyone. Once Upon a Poem

Title: One Upon a Poem
Author: Kevin Crossley
ISBN: 0-439-77935-9

Summary:
There are many different poems in this book. The stories are poems but the content is kind of fairy tale. It is in different version. For example is ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. It is a wicked retelling of Goldilocks and a rip. This story is nasty than the original story. While the three bears, mommy, daddy, and baby, went to the picnic, Goldilocks go to their house. She eats the bear’s food, damages the furniture and mess around their house. Then the bear family came… The ending is little different from the original story. Find it out!

Genre of this book:
The genre of this book is poetry. We can know that this book is poetry by looking at the title. The stories are all poems but the content is fairytales that we all know. The fairytales in this book are transferred as poetry. Each two sentences rhyme each other and have rhythm. It tells a story that we already know, it rhymes and have rhythm.

My Opinion on this book:
I thought this book is gonna be boring. I really don’t like poetry. It is difficult to understand. Because I knew the original story already, it was east to understand and more interesting, because the ending was little different. For some they twisted some happenings. Also not like other poetry the pictures are in color and very fun. I like it!!

Hush, Little Alien

"Hush, Little Alien" by Daniel Kirk, is a book in which an alien father sings "Hush, Little Baby" to its alien child. The famous lullaby is changed so that it fits in with aliens and the activities that they do. Instead of singing "Hush, Little Baby, Don't say A word, Daddy's gonna buy you a mockingbird", the alien father sings "Hush, Little Alien, Don't say a word, Papa's gonna catch you a goonie-bird."

I think this book is made for younger readers. Children that are around the age of 1 through 3 would like "Hush, Little Alien" because it has colorful pictures and it is a different version of a lullaby. If someone was to read (or sing) this book to a group of toddlers, it would catch their attention with the strange objects in the pictures.

The book "Hush, Little Alien" is a science fiction book. It has aliens that travel on a made up planet. When the alien father sings to his alien child, he talks about futuristic technology and things that have to do with space.

The Boxcar Children (The mystery at the crooked house)

Title: The Mystery at the Crooked House
Author: Warner, Gertude
ISBN: 0-439-19366-4
MLA: Warner, Gertrude. "The Mystery at the Crooked House."

The book that I read is The mystery at the crooked house from the boxcar children series. Four children named Henry, Jessie, Viloet, and Benny lived in a boxcar. But they go visit their grandfathers house, the Crooked House, which is in the snowy countryside. But over time their grandfather and his wife start to run out of money to pay for the house. The children try to help and they find out that there might be a hidden treasure in the house. This book is a mystery because the kids have to look for something which they only know by riddles. I didn't like this book though, I thought it was kind of childish.

Author: Elisabeth J. Stewart

Meli and her brother Tahlikwa, were separated when the soldiers came and conquered their tribe. While she is having a long journey to an unknown land, she doubts if her brother is still alive, or dead. One day she finds her brother, and when the soldiers are buisy, she escapes from them with her brother and tries to find her home toghether before the soldiers get them. During their journey, a lot of things happen, they face danger, or share happiness with eachother, and also care for eachother during this whole book.....

I think this book is very interesting. This book shows friendship and love for eachother. Also this book is very fun to read because the events pass really fast and you can imagine what is happening, in your head. I think this book is a good book to read for children, but not for adults or grownups because i think it is going to be a little boring to them. I think little kids between 10-13 would like this book a lot.

Genre:Historical fiction. This book is historical fiction because this story is about the past. It could also happen these days. This book talks about the past and what happens during that time. It also shows some of the ways people acted those days and what kind of things they used to do, things like hunting, cooking, and the ways they dressed those days and the types of transportation they had druing that particular time.

Hansel and Gretel

Title: Hansel & Gretel
Author/Retold by: James Marshall
ISBN: 0-590-44990-7

Once upon a time....
There were two siblings living in a cottage near a forest with their father and their stepmother. The boy was called Hansel; the girl was called Gretel. One day a great famine came upon the land and the stepmother decided to leave them in the forest for(in her thought) there weren't anything left to eat because the kids were eating the food all to themselves. The father disapproved, but he had no choice but to follow his wife's orders. The siblings eavesdropped the first time and prepared themselves with white pebbles so that they could find themselves back home again. Eventually they found their way home and the parents were surprised.
Another famine occured and the stepmother thought of the same plan as she did before; leave them in the woods. This time Hansel could not go out and collect white pebbles as he did before. Instead the next day when they went into the woods, Hansel left a trail of his bread crumbs to find a way back home. They became lost while finding a way back home; all the birds ate the trail of bread crumbs. But a white bird appeared and led them to a house made of sweets; the children began to eat off of it because they were hungry.
A witch; the owner of the sweet house caught the children eating off her house. She first allured them by pretending to be nice, but the next day she locked Hansel into a cage. Her plan was to eat Hansel when he was fattened up; plump and juicy. Gretel was to do all the witch's work.
Read this book to find out the ending!

This book can go under the genre of FOLKLORE because:
* This story has been passed down for many many generations
* Ends happily ever after
* Fictatious; Some of the parts in this story cannot actually happen in real life

My opinion about this book is that it was very fun because it brought back memories of reading this story when i was younger. I would think that this would actually happen; my parents leaving me alone in a forest and I would find the witch's house and become locked in a cage, but now I know that it could never happen. Many pictures are involved in the book and it is extremely easy to read so I would say that most children would like it.

'Long Long Time Ago '

Title: Long Long Time Ago
Author: No author

*Summary of this book-

The book I chose contains 20 different Korean famous folktales. There are many different varieties of stories that would make you sad, happy, surprise, thrilling scared, brave, cool, and scared. One of the story, ‘Mr. Moon and Ms. Sun’. This story makes you satisfied of the sibling’s achievement. (Hat Nim Dal Nim in Korean) In that story, the sibling’s mom went to another village to help prepare for a feast. While she was going, she met a big tiger who was starving. The tiger ate her food and it even ate her. At that time, the siblings were scared of dark and were staying at home. Then the tiger wore their mother’s cloth and pretend like her. The tiger went to the sibling’s house to eat them. They recognized that it wasn’t their mother therefore they climbed the tree secretly to avoid tiger. The tiger followed them and climbed with the rope. And then the tiger tried to eat the siblings.......The last part is the coolest part! Ah man..!! Read this book and find out!

*Genre of this book-

I heard and read these stories since I was seven. I heard it from my mom before bed when I was young. This book can go into folktale as it says ‘Korean Folktale’ in the book. I’m sure that most Koreans know these stories. Since this is folktale, there is no author to this book.
1. This stories are retold by generations to generations.
2. In the story of ‘Mr. Moon and Ms.Sun’; it talks about the Korean old story like a legend of how the siblings became the Sun and the Moon.

Hayana’s Opinion to this book-

When I was looking for a book I found a special and cool book. It was about Korean folktale. It was still fun to me even tough I knew the story already. Reading in Korean and English was very different and cool. I didn’t know that there’s Korean folktale in English. I highly recommend this book to one who wants to know about Korean folktales. You can read the 20 different Korean folktales. In the story, you can also imagine its culture and custom by looking at pictures and stories. Looking at pictures is also one of the good things about this book. We can see that long ago, Koreans wore Han-Bok and Korean houses, and how they use things in the past.

The Last of the Mohicans

http://images.addall.com/Images/SHOW/0679847065.jpg
The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper; Adapted by Les Martin
ISBN: 0-679-84706-5

As the English and French both settle in the American frontiers, war soon begins. Two daughters of an English Colonel begin their journey to reunite with their father, but not soon after, trouble stirs. Many Indians join forces with the English, as well as the French making the war larger. The two daughters, Cora Munro and Allice Munro, are challenged to go through this dangerous journey. After many strugles, Cora and Allice manage to reunite with their father, but are soon parted by an Indian suprise attack. Cora and Allice are out of sight. Colonel Munro and his allies search for his daughters despite of the French and the Indians after him.

The Last of the Mohicans is an adventure book because Colonel Munro, his daughters and his allies are on a dangerous, suprising quest, but has a satisfying resolution. 3 specific examples that prove that The Last of the Mohicans is an adventure book are (1) Cora and Allice are tricked by an Indian named Magua, (2) the people who lived in Fort William Henry are suprised with an ambush, (3) and Magua dies in the end, making a satisfying resolution. The Last of the Mohicans are filled with suprises, but ends witha satisfying resolution, which makes it an adventure book.

I think that this book was very suprising, because it had many twists and turns that nobody would have expected. I liked this book because it was interesting, but easy to read. It is also very touching to see the love between the family, and also betweent the Indians and the English.

The Little Red Hen

The Little Red Hen

author: Randal,l Ronne P
ISBN: 0-7214-1563-6

Once upon a time there was a little red hen. She lived on a farm with other animals. One day, she saw some grain of wheat and she wanted to plant those wheat. She took them in the farmyard where her friends were. The little red hen asked her friends to help her to plant those wheat but they all refuse to do it. She just planted the grains by herself on a shinniest part of the field. Few days later, the wheat grew tall and strong so the little red hen wanted to cut those wheat. She asked again to her friends to help her but they refused again. The little red hen cut down the wheat by herself. After that she asked help to her friends to take the wheat to the miller but they refused to take it. The little red hen took the wheat to the miller and he ground it into flour. She asked her friends again to take those flour to the baker but again they refused to take it. The little red hen took the flour to the backer and he made the flour into a loaf of fresh, tasty bread.

I think this book is for the kindergarteners and maybe elementary. This book is based on a traditional folk tale. The Little Red Hen is a very short and easy book to read and also many big pictures. This book will be a very boring book to the high school students. It's very interesting that the little red hen is doing all kinds of thing.

The title says "The 'adventures' of Benny and Watch" but I think its also mystery because after they ran away they found a boxcar. Also at the end a old man talked to them and you will find out who he is after you read this book.

I really like this book and also even kids won't like it. The whole story is about finding out a big boxcar and a old man. Most kids show their interest to the books that are about witches and royallty.

Title: Let's get Invisible!
Author: R.L. Stine
ISBN: 0-590-45370-X
This book is about a boy named Max who had found a mirror in their attic. When he found out that he gets invisible everytime he turns on the light, he decided to boast to his friend about the mirror. When he showed it to his friend, his friend was astonished. His friend dared him to get invisible. He never thought of what will happen next. Until he found out something that was hard to believe.....
I think the genre of this book is adventure. Because when Max tried to get invisible, he just found himself trapped and was talking to his reflection. I just thought that this might be an adventure because of what had happened next.
One thing that I liked about this book is that it's creepy. I really like scary books. I thought that Max and his friends were kinda like stupid or something. It's kinda stressing though. Some people might enjoy this book especially if they wanna be scared or something. This book is not that bad though. It's just O.K.

Summary: This book is about a family from Sweden who had lived through hardship but after getting a letter from one of there close relatives they had decided to go to america to find a better place. But many hardships were made on the ship just to get to a world thousands of miles away!!! :O
Genre: Historical fiction, my reason is because it took place during the beginning of america and how it had prospered, The people had lived in log cabins which people rarely live in now, and lots of the background in this book takes place in lots of history in early america
Opinion: the book was kinda kiddy and didn't really teach much....And the book never actually inspired or made me hooked to it like most would. But i still recommend this book to early readers ready to learn to read at my level! I hope the young readers will like this book and will learn alittle from this.

After that Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan go training, but it turns to a war that puts their lives in danger. Someone has told a group of hunters to capture the jedi. genre: science fiction, it has things that are based on imagined scientific discoveries of the future, it deals with space travel, and talks about life on other planets. those were the 3 examples why this book is a science fiction book.

opinion of the book: i like this book because it has so much adventure and misteries. This book also makes the reader have a visual aid of what is happenin g because it all happens so fast and in a non confusing way so that the readers can understand easier. for example: when the people fight in space ships and shoot lasers at eachother, I could have the visual aid of it preety much and when the master and aprentice make a plan toghether and try to escape from the hunters. Other people might enjoy the romantic parts or maybe the space ship battles and 1vs1 laser sword fights that happen during this book.

What Amero does not know was that Duranix is a dragon who could take the form of a human...As Amero grows older living in the village, he creates many ingeneous inventions. One of these is an elevator which uses a rope to pull himself up from the village to the cave behind the waterfall.

The girl, Nianka, tries to find her mother's people in search of relatives who might aid her. As she travels the big continent of Ansalon, she battles with snobby elves, hides from enemies, and even forms her own nomad army. Her side of the story is violent but

This book is under the genre of Fantasy because there are no such things as "Yevis" and dragons. There is also no such land called "Ansalon". If shapeshifting was possible, I would like to learn it and turn into a dragon. Then I would be able to fly to countries and not pay for an airplane ticket.

I really liked this book. Once you pick it up and read even a few pages of it, you get hooked. I couldn't stop reading it. The author explains the details and suspense in this book so well that you can visualize it in your head as you read it. This book is also unique in that it shows two different points of view with each chapter, Amero's view, and Nianka's view. Even though Children of the Plains is a long book, and may take a long time to read, it is worth it. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books with suspense, war, or dragons.

Genre:Realistic Fiction/Adventure
The Genre of This Book is Adventure because:
-The main characters are always at a different place, not staying at one major place.
-The characters in the book are always taking risks.
-It is a risky undertaking, or a remarkable and exiting experience.
My Opinion On The Book:I really enjoyed this book. Not only because the book is based on a character from a previous book that the author wrote, but the sole story that the author wrote about the character. The story took me in and hypnotized me, because everyday at eight o' clock I could not let the book go. I reccomend this book to the fans of Louis Sachar and those who would enjoy a book soup, because this book is almost all genres put together, and thank goodness it's literally not.

-Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs-

Title: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Author: Walt Disney
ISBN:0-307-01036-8

Once upon a time there was a young and sweet princess, named Snow White. She lived with her stepmother, a queen. The queen had a magic mirror, so everyday she asked the mirror who is the fairest one of all. The answer was always the queen. One day when she asked, it said Snow White is the fairest. The queen was so angry, that she called the woodman and ordered him to kill Snow White. The next day, when he was going to kill, he just let her to run away. She ran on and on and found a small cottage. There was no one. She cleaned that house. Meanwhile, the seven dwarfs went to the cottage after their work. The dwarfs agreed to live with the princes. She lived with the seven dwarfs happily. The next morning, when they went to work, her stepmother who decided to kill Snow White, she changed into an old witch. She went to her house and gave a poisonous apple that would make her sleep forever. Snow White bit and fell asleep and the witch also died because of the dwarfs. When they came it was too late. And then........... Find it out what happens next! Ah!! I wish I could tell you the end, which is my favorite part!

The genre of this book is fairy tale☆

☺There's a problem (events) and it ended with happy ending.
☺This story cannot happen in real life; the magic mirror, and the queen turning into an another person.
☺ It's a story for kids.
☺When Snow White was cleaning the house, the animals helped.
This is impossible. I wish they could.

Hayana's Opinion on the book:

I love this book. I was so glad that I could do this book in this assignment. I still read this book when I feel lonely about boyfriend. Thinking my prince will come someday as Snow White did. I highly recommend this book to kids who likes happy endings and have princess disease. This books made me to buy Snow White's outfit, stickers, and things that would make me like Snow White. Looking pictures are also interesting. They are so adorable. Especially the dwarfs. This book is also thrilling when Snow White is eating an apple.

Stormbreaker

Title Of Book: Stormbreaker
Author: Anthony Horowitz
ISBN: 0-14-240656-2
Genre: Mystery
The book, "Stormbreaker", starts with the death of Alex Rider's uncle, Ian Rider. His uncle died in a car crash or so it seems. When investigating the tragic death of his uncle, he goes to the junkyard that had his uncle's car, he finds out something surprising. Alex's uncle wasn't killed in a crash, his uncle was killed by a gun shot. Through his many adventures, Alex comes face-to-face with the murderer of Ian Rider.
This is the first book in the Alex Rider Adventure series. I have enjoyed this mystery/action adventure .
I highly suggest this book to anyone who likes a thrilling book.I liked this book because it kept me wanting to read more and more of it with each page. Even though this is a movie now, I suggest reading the book, it is much better.
This book fits under the genre of mystery because the main character is searching for answers behind a murder.

Nettie's Trip South

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0689801173.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
Nettie's Trip South by Ann Turner
ISBN:0-02-789240-9

This book is a letter from a girl named Nettie to her friend Addie. In the letter, Nettie talks about her trip to the South. Nettie takes this trip with her brother and sister. After they arrive, they find out what it's like in the South. Nettie learns that the Negroes were slaves and that they were bought and sold just like animals that were bought and sold. Nettie felt sick after she watched the Negroe auction. She tells Addie what it would be like if they were Negroes and how badly they would be treated.

Nettie's Trip South is a historical fiction book. It is a historical fiction book because it is a made up story that has a setting that is in the past. This book talks about what it would of been like in the past. 3 specific examples that prove that this is a historical fiction book is that (1) Addie states that she was only ten when she saw the slaves, (2) there was a black maid in the hotel that Addie was staying at who was not paid, (3) and because there was a 'Negroe Auction'. Today, there are no slaves in the U.S. Every perosn has freedom today, in the U.S. Therefor, there is no need for a 'Negroe Auction' either!

I think that this book is very inspiring because even though Nettie is a white girl, she feels pity and has a heart that is wanting freedom for the Negroes. She thinks about how different it would be if she was a black person. Even though Nettie is young, she feels that it is unfair for Negroes to be slaves and white people free even though they are all human beings.

Hank The Cowdog: The case of the midnight Rustler

Title: Hank The Cowdog

Author: John R. Erickson

ISBN: 0-14-130395-6

In this book, Hank and Slim have to go camping to Uncle Johnny's pasture to look for the cattle rustler in Uncle Johnny's pasture. When they got there, Hank met the Coyote Brothers and was about to get eaten when Brewster came to "save" him. I'm not gonna tell you anything about the ending because it's for me to know and it's for you to find out! Just read it if you want to know what happened in the end.

The category of this book or genre fell to Junior Fiction. Because it's really for "teenagers" because there are some words that a 2nd grader might not understand. Such as, "Big Dipper."

I thought this book is kinda boring because Drover was not really involve in the story. There was not much humor or anything but it's just O.K. I liked it because Hank had solved another "case." But this book might work if you are bored and have nothing to read or to do.

THE LITTLE PRINCE ( Le Petit Prince )

THE LITTLE PRINCE
The narrator speaks about his experience with a little fellow, known to be called the Little Prince. After his discouragement of being an artist as a career, he decided to be a pilot; a job adults more likely prefer than drawing. He ends up crash landing in the Sahara desert, but that was the beginning of his fate with the Prince. Him drawing a sheep for the Prince brought them close together, and the Prince begins to reveal his adventures. The narrator, though at first he acted ignorant like an adult, becomes more interested into him.
Our main character, the Little Prince first starts out on his own little planet; a planet named Asteroid B-612. It is where he can see the sunset by moving his chair a few feet, and where he falls in love with a beautiful rose sprouting on his planet. One day he decides to leave, to explore other things he's never experienced. He meets adults on different stars along the way, and doesn't try to understand them; for he is only a child. The reaches earth and begin meeting new friends, and the author himself.
This book is for readers of all ages, but on my opinion, adults who read this will break their mind of thinking logically, and will begin to think more thoroughly with things. An example would be when the author draws a snake that ate an elephant, but adults would just look at it as if it was a hat. Only a child would tell what it really was.
This book can be under the genre of Fantasy or Fairy Tale because:
-There are made up characters; talking animals and plants.
- Human beings unfortunately cannot live on asteroids/small planets
- It could end happily ever after or maybe even end it as a mystery!
The book The Little Prince has translation copies around the whole world and is now celebrating its 60th anniversary. If you are interested, visit the official site : http://www.lepetitprince.com/en/index.php

Fractured Fairy Tales

Fractured Fairy Tales
By: A.J. Jacobs
ISBN: 0-553-09980-9
Summary: Fractured Fairy Tales is a book filled with many stories. The stories are famous fairy tales such as Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, Frog Prince, and so on. But the stories are all twisted and wrong, as if they were different stories. The stories are so twisted that there are no happy endings.
Genre: Fairy Tale
The genre of the book is Fairy Tale because:
-The very title of the book contains "Fairy Tales."
-The events in the book did not and cannot happen.
-It contains the very idol of fairy tales: The Fairy God Mother.
-The stories are real fairy tales, but just modified.
My Opinion On The Book: I really enjoyed this book. This book not only makes you laugh but also would want to make you cry because of the humour. Once you read this book I guarantee that you will be hooked, because I was. I do not believe that anyone wouldn't read this at least once and didn't say it was funny. I recommend this book to those who want a good laugh, because this will bring alot.

Once there was an old man name Armand who lived under a bridge in paris. Everything he owned could be pushed around in an old baby buggy without a hood-it was easy for him to move from place to place. Armand loved his solitary, carfree life. Children, he said, were like starlings, and one was batter off without them. But the children who lived under the bridge knew a true friend when they saw one, even if that friend was a little bit grumpy to begin with. And it did not take Armand long to see he had gotten himself a ready-made family-one he loved with all his heart, and one he would have to find a better home for than the bridge.

Genre:This book is Historyical Fiction because it's from the past like 1980 like thaT.

The students at the Knight-Moore Academy all have no idea how they got there... it's now up the Elisha and Elijah, going under false names, to solve the mystery of the Nightmare Academy...
Genre: Fantasy
There are unreal events, people and places.
There are a lot of things where the laws of science are broken.
Most of the events cannot be happening in real life.
Opinion of the book: This book is very enjoyable to read, the author uses words to form a picture in our minds, the story and customs that are in this book are very gripping. Some examples is "They were out of the van in an instant, dashing across the street, up the block, and down the narrow alley. The Dartmoor Hotel had a back stairway. They went up th stairs as quickly quiet would allows, then stole down the third-floor hallway...." also "The heavy, electronic latch clanged into place the instant Elisha reached it and she fell against the iron bars, gripping them, wishing, praying she could pass through...."
I think anyone who wants a good, gripping, story to read would greatly enjoy this book. I would recommend it to everyone.

The Clue of the Broken Locket (Final)

Title: The Clue of the Broken Locket
Author: Carolyn Keene
ISBN: 0-448-09511-4
Summary of this Book: This book is about a girl called Nancy Drew who tries to solve a mystery about the broken locket. The mystery all starts with a man called Henry Winch who got scared when he saw an old launch drifting on a lake near his cottage. There is an ancient story about the launch- around the turn of the century there had been a large picnic grove at the far end of the lake. An excursion launch had carried parties up to the picnic ground. But one day the launch sprang a leak and sank down quickly. Everyone who was on board was all trapped and lost. But strangely a girl called Cecily comes to the cottage which Henry Winch use to live in. Cecily is lucky to have 3 girls as accompany- Nancy, George, and Bess. The three girls finds out why Cecily came to the haunted place for her holiday and they also learn that she is engaged to Niko Van Dyke who is a famous pop singer. The girls comes to know that there is a girl who looks very similar with Cecily and they become suspicious of her because she always ran away from the girls when they saw each other. Nancy and along with her friends solves both mysteries- Cecily's problem and the suspicious girl. They also finds out that the Driscolls have been doing bad things to earn money.

Genre: The Clue in the Broken Locket is a mystery book because the problem gets worse and worse until the problem is solved. Also even though Nancy is a detective it takes her a while to solve the matter for the problem is quite confusing. Even a clever detective finds it very tricky to solve the mystery. Lastly, this story gets all your mind tense because you don't know what would happen to the girls and every mystery books get you tense inside. If you read a mystery book you can not put the book down because you would want to read the rest of the story and know how the story ends.

Opinion of the Book: I think this book was quite thrilling and exciting to read. I would recommend that everyone would read this book and learn how the do some sleuthing when there is a mystery happening near you. The best part of the book was when the phantom launch suddenly appeared and vanished in to thin air. While I was read this part I got goosebumps all over my arm and kept hopping that Nancy would soon solve the problem. Just imagine seeing a old launch coming into action so that you can see. I encourage everyone to read this book along with Nancy Drew Mystery Books Collection.

Title:Harlem
Author: Walter Dean Myers
ISBN: 0-590-54341-5

In the book Harlem, they talk about the place called Harlem and how no matter what color skin you are, it is okay to be there. it tells you all about the life of the people there.
Harlem is a book of poetry. Although it doesn't have many rhyming words the sentences flow and when you read them, you can tell it is a poem. one section of the book that you can read and see that it flows is when it says "a weary blues that langston knew
and countee sung
a river of blues where Du Bois waded
and baldwin preached" (Harlem 14)
I thought that the book wasa pretty okay book even though i didn't understand much of it until i read it a couple of times. it has pretty good points in the story that it shows about racial things. i would recommend this book for people who mite enjoy poetry beacuse even though there aren't many rhyming words, it has words that can

The Queen would usually ask to his magical mirror that who is fairest one of all. Then the mirror mentioned Snow White. The Queen was so angry, send a huntsman and ordered to kill Snow White. However, he couldn't and let Snow White run away. Afterward, she found out a house its beautiful. She went in can clean the house. Meanwhile, the seven Dwarfs, who were the owner of the house, were on the way back to their house. As they arrived the seven Dwarfs were so surprised by Snow Whites beauty. Snow White loved his new friend. The Queen was still trying to kill Snow White because she knew that she was still alive. The Queen would change herself in to a old peddler woman. Also, she made a poisoned apple. The Queen gave the apple to Snow White , she bite it and fell in a deep sleep. Then, a hansome prince came and kissed Snow White. She woke up and live happily ever after.

I really can't tell that if I liked it or not. However, still it is good story and little kids will like it so much. The reason why kids like Snow White is because there is a beautiful girl, which little girls will like it, and a witch.

Author- Not availble

Its fairy tale because it has to do with royalty and witch. Also, it mentioned about a magical mirror and a queen turns in to a woman and that might interest little kids. Especially seven dwarfs.

Melinda Sordino called the cops at an end-of-summer party so now her old friends won't talk to her. What her friends don't know, however, was why she had called the cops which even she doesn't want to think about. The book is written almost like a diary, she writes her feelings, thoughts, and all the emotions that go along with what happened at the night of the party and now being the most-hated person in the school. Since the party Melinda barely speaks and her lips are ruined from her constantly biting them because of her anxiousness. The only place she feels comfortable and safe is in the small janitor's closet nobody uses that she found while avoiding her social studies teacher who she calls "Mr. Neck." There she is hidden from all the pain of dealing with her secret, her ex-friends, and especially, IT. IT goes to her school, IT was at the party, IT ruined her life, IT is disgusting enough to make her want to puke.

I thought this book was really sad. Melinda had to go through so many hardships, I felt so sorry for her. The pain of dealing with what happened at the party is something I hope I never have to go through. Her friends hated her because she was too scared to tell them the truth of what happened. There were parts that were entertaining and funny but it was mostly sad. You can really feel how hurt she is and how much her secret affected her.

Stone of Tears

Title: Stone of Tears
Author: Terry Goodkind
ISBN: 0-812-55148-6

After the first book, the Wizard's First Rule, Richard destroys Darken Rahl by using the Wizard's First Rule (which was that people are stupid and can be easily misled).
After he kills Darken Rahl and starts living a normal life, he starts to get headache. The headache grows worse everyday and he tries to find out why he has the headaches. Three women, who are called the Sister of the Light, come to take him to a place.
He finds out that he started getting the headaches because of his powers. He was just learning to use his powers and he didn't yet know how to control them. The Sister of the Light promise to teach him how to control his powers and get rid of the headaches, but while they are there, they discover evil Sister of the Light who try to kill Richard. I don't want to tell you anymore because it is a good book and I don't want to ruin it for you.

I liked this book and i thought that it was really good. I thought that it was better than the first book. The series is called the Sword of Truth. Again, I like how the author explains and details the story and the characters. Just reading the first few chapters, the book caught my attention and I couldn't keep myself from reading it. I love this book and I consider you reading it. If you read it, I hope you like it.
